You may think three months is too long to lose 10 pounds. But those extra 10 pounds came as a result of your daily habits and activities that you were comfortable with and willing to do.
Are you comfortable with starving yourself and feverishly exercising everyday? No. This is how eating disorders start. The virtue of dieting slow is that you will operate within a range that is comfortable for you and moreover, when you are comfortable, you’ll keep doing what you’re doing.
The quality of patience goes a long way toward your goal of creating a more peaceful and loving self. The more patient your are, the more accepting you will be of what is, rather than insisting that life be exactly as you would like it be.
Richard Carlson, Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff
Think of the advantage of losing weight slowly this way: How many times have you fasted or tried some Hollywood diet only to give up and end up heavier? How much of your time did this cost you? One or two weeks? How often do you keep returning to get-skinny-quick diets? Every other month?
Think of all the time you lose and frustration you gain with get-skinny-quick diets. In retrospect, a slow diet that adheres to your comfort zone actually saves you time.
