If there is anything that screws up a woman’s diet, it’s her belief that she should lose weight fast and easily. It just does not happen this way. Once she convinces herself of this, she will give up quack diets and actually use a diet that educates her on how her body works.
Convincing yourself of this truth is not easy because every week at the check-out line you read magazine covers that promises, “Lose 10 pounds in two weeks,” “Try the secret supermodel diet” or “Fit into your bikini by summer” when summer is only a month away. These titles are tempting, but deceiving.
After reading such titles a woman may badger herself by asking, “Why can’t I lose weight that fast?” Here’s why. If she wants to lose weight and keep it off, she should lose it slowly.
Here’s how it works. If you lose 10 pounds in two weeks, where did that weight come from? Water and muscle most likely. Why? Because the body will burn muscle, when it is nutrient depleted, before it will burn fat. Fat is the body’s last resort for fuel.
