There is a world of difference between knowing what to do and actually doing it.
Bill Phillips, Body for Life
Going from not exercising at all to 60 minutes of aerobics a day is not going to happen at once. For starters, this is overexertion and it can cause injuries. Also, overdoing it at the gym can move you to resent exercise entirely and dismiss it as menial masochism.
Additionally, I’ve watched people gain weight (extra inches and fat) after starting a new exercise program. They’ve gained the weight because they began their new program with overzealousness. This zealous energy lasted about two weeks since they still did not like the way they looked after “killing themselves in the gym,” so they gave up.
Don’t let exercise become the enemy. Do activities that you enjoy. Walking, biking, skiing… the options are endless.
