Taking Out the Trash

If you are going to get the trash out of your body, you can consider
fiber your trusty broom that helps sweep the colon of debris. Fiber
comes in two forms-soluble and insoluble.

Soluble fiber, which dissolves in water, helps to lower serum cholesterol by binding with low-density lipoproteins. We find water-soluble fiber in foods like apples, grapes and beans.

Insoluble fiber, however, cannot be digested or absorbed by the
intestine. This type of fiber includes pectin, cellulose, hemicellulose
and gums. Foods like fruits, vegetables, nuts and whole grains give us
the fiber we need. Ho wever, eggs, dairy products, and meats do not
provide any form of fiber.

Fiber helps remove mucus from the intestinal tract and lower the
cholesterol level. This wonderful substance also decreases the transit
time it takes waste and digested food to exit the intestine.

When excess mucus created by an immune response cannot be properly removed
from the intestines, the mucus is sent to the skin for release. As this
happens, we may experience acne eruptions.

Also, when food spends less time in the colon, this reduces the chances that waste will ferment. Less fermentation prevents harmful bacteria from reproducing in the colon and disrupting the balance of helpful bacteria.

While fiber is essential for a healthy diet and a clean colon, during a
fast the presence of fiber in colon can slow the healing process. Fiber
promotes peristalsis (movement of the colon) which means the
digestive system is working.

For instance, if you eat 3 celery stalks and
one beet instead of juicing them, the digestive system will have to
perform peristalsis to extract the fiber from these foods. This is why
juice fasts are ideal for healing. You receive the enzymes needed for
cleansing without overworking the colon.

Be aware that regular bowel movements can be disrupted because of
lack of fiber while fasting. As a result, toxic waste discharged into the
intestines ferments and can be reabsorbed into the bloodstream
resulting in a cleansing crisis.

To address this issue, it is highly
recommended that you perform enemas and/or have a series of
colonics while fasting.

I suggest getting a jump-start on your internal cleansing process by
having a few colonics done. This is important because the colon is
your chief source of cleansing for the body.

However, sense we eat so
many toxic foods that stick to the wall of the colon, we sabotage the
ability of the colon to effectively do its job. And, if the colon cannot
effectively perform its cleansing duties, it recruits help from other
sources such as the skin, which can cause acne.

Enemas

At first, you may be extremely hesitant to insert water into your
rectum. Perhaps it sounds unnatural or painful. Well, ask yourself,
“How natural is my lifestyle, does it include lots of fresh fruits and
vegetables, do you thoroughly chew your food and rarely consume
excess meats and junk food?” If the answer is negative, lets go on to
look at enemas.

Note:

If you do not wish to use an enema, I suggest using the product “Super Colon
Cleanse”. It contains fiber and other nutrients to help cleanse the colon. It’s sold in the laxative section at most drug and health stores. I consider it a fiber supplement
not a laxative.

Enemas are a great way to enhance your fasts and maintain a healthy
colon. Within our intestines, lymph glands line the intestinal wall.
These lymph glands absorb and filter fluid from the feces inside the
colon.

Using an enema to deliver water to the colon triggers a healing
reflex. Moreover, using lukewarm water with an enema cleanses the
lymph attached to the colon and thus waste is washed from the
intestines.

Keep in mind that when lymph is properly removed from
the colon, the colon does not have to send this waste to the skin, where
it can translate into acne.

When you first start using enemas, it’s a good idea to eat raw foods so
that the fiber from the food will help push waste through the colon and
add moisture to the waste inside the colon.

Giving yourself an enema

There are several types of enemas you can perform from coffee
enemas, to help cleanse the liver, to garlic enemas, to rid yourself of
parasites. What follows are some general steps to familiarize yourself
with the enema process:

You can get an enema kit from almost any drugstore. I suggest getting
an enema bag that can hold two quarts of water. Before you buy the
kit, which can cost from $10-$15 dollars and is reusable, make sure it
has all of the equipment you’ll need to perform an enema.

You need the water holding bag, a tube for water to flow through, a clamp to
control the flow of the water, a hook for hanging the pouch and a
nozzle to insert in the rectum. In general, you should follow the
manufacturer’s directions for administering the enema, but the typical
steps are given here to familiarize you with the process.

Fill the enema bag full of lukewarm water (filtered, spring or well
water is preferable). Then place the enema pouch approximately three
feet above the floor. This height will create the fluid pressure that is
needed to get the water to flow through the tube.

Release the clamp and allow the first bit of water and air to flow into
the toilet or shower (this step prevents adding gas from tube into the
colon).

Next, lubricate the tip of the nozzle that you will insert into the
rectum. You can use petroleum jelly for this. Now rest on your left
side and gently insert the nozzle into the rectum. Release the water
clamp and allow the fluid to flow. As water flows into your intestinal
tract, you may experience slight cramps.

When or if this occurs, stop the flow of water and relax for a moment
while massaging the stomach in an upward motion. As an added
benefit, this massaging action will release hardened mucus in the
intestinal folds. Once the cramps are eased, release the clamp again.

Note:

When performing enemas, ensure that you have easy access to a
toilet for at least twenty minutes in case there is additional discharge.

I perform my enemas in the shower by hanging the bag on the
showerhead. Also, when I do the enemas, I relax myself beforehand be
taking a few deep breaths and say to myself I am beginning to heal
myself. This helps relax the intestines so that they are prepared to
release the waste.

Types of Enemas Mixtures You Can Make Yourself

I have provided a list of various enema mixtures in Appendix A.
Before performing an enema, it is a good idea to know how it will
benefit your body.

For example, a coffee enema will help the liver to
function better. I have always noted an improvement in the brightness
of my skin after performing coffee enemas. I also use coffee enemas
when I consume a lot of protein, since cleansing the liver helps it
better handle the extra protein load.

Drinking coffee does not serve the same purpose as doing a coffee enema. That’s because with the enema, more coffee is readily available to stimulate the colon and liver.

Garlic enemas are great for removing parasites. I perform this type of
enema when I am eating uncontrollably for no good reason and when
my mood swings are extremely dramatic. These are just a few of the
signs of a possible parasite overload.

Keeping the good stuff inside

Beneficial Bacteria

Try to avoid using chlorinated water for your enema because it is
detrimental to the colon’s beneficial bacteria. Helpful bacteria such as
acidophilus and bifidus are used by the body in the final stages of
digestion.

Excessive toxins can damage or destroy these beneficial
bacteria and permit harmful bacteria to take over. Harmful bacteria
produce by-products like ammonia, purines and ethionine, which can
cause numerous ailments such as cancer.

Deficiencies of beneficial bacteria can occur after heavy use of antibiotics, narcotics or after a severe bout of diarrhea. Here again is an example of why medications for acne can do more harm than good. A dangerous surplus of harmful bacteria in the colon can cause headaches, skin infections, weakness
and constipation.

If tap water is your only alternative, replace the intestinal bacteria after
an enema with some acidophilus supplements or by eating yogurt that
contains these bacteria.

Electrolytes

As with beneficial bacteria, you want to ensure that your electrolytes
are balanced before and after performing an enema. An electrolyte is a
solution or substance that carries electric charges. They exist in the
blood as acids, bases, and salts (such as sodium, calcium, potassium,
chlorine, magnesium, and bicarbonate).

The salts or electrolytes in our bodily fluids allow our nervous system to function properly. Almost 70% of your immune system is located in the intestines. As such, it is imperative to replace the electrolytes after an enema. This can be done by drinking liquids such as Pedialyte, Gatorade or a glass of water with sea salts.

Colonics

A hydro colon therapy specialist and other naturopathic practitioners
perform colonics. During a colonic, a tube is inserted in the rectum as
the patient lies on a table. Water is then inserted into the tube and it
slowly fills the colon.

The person administering the colonic makes
every effort to ensure that the patient is completely comfortable during
this process. The waste leaving the rectum goes through the tube and
through a machine with a glass window so that you can see the waste
as it leaves your body (if you want). The colonic session may last 45
minutes to an hour.

Typically at the first session the practitioner will deliver warm water
into your body. At other sessions, he or she may use coffee or
chlorophyll, depending on your internal cleansing needs. This process
is extremely sanitary, so there is no need to worry about waste
covering you during the session.

The number of colonics you have will depend on your goals and state
of health. When I first began colonics, my acne was out of control. I
changed my diet and fasted regularly.

I was also very constipated.
Believe it or not most of us are constipated and fail to realize it. (Wait: The next time someone yells at you, kindly ask, “Are you constipated?” Then kindly proceed to advise them of their options.)

I had a colonic once a week for five weeks and it was one of the best things I
ever did for my body. After my first two colonics, I was very tired. I
had to go to bed in the middle of the day.

My practitioner told me that this was normal since my body was releasing toxins that had been stored in my fat cells back into the blood. Since my colon was a little less taxed in its cleaning responsibilities, the kidneys and liver were now better prepared to perform their job and cleanse the blood.

Colonics help me to the better sense when I am truly full and truly
hungry. Additionally, I have less cellulite (I attribute also this to a
combination of good dieting and exercise as well).

My mental ability is improved. I am calmer and more patient. Plus, I sleep less whereas before I was sleeping 10 hours a day. I knew for myself that this was excessive, and I still felt tired after having slept that long.
I do follow-up colonics every month and whenever I need a mood
adjustment.

For example, once I noticed that I was getting impatient
and frustrated over trivial things. I knew that my reactions were
inappropriate. I was also hungrier than normal. These conditions were
indicative of a parasite overload and had a series of colonics done
while taking walnut seed extract (which helps destroy parasites).

In short, if you are set for a lifestyle change I cannot recommend
colonics enough. I think they are wonderful and provide an array of
benefits. Treat yourself to a few, regularly.

Common Sense Guide to Staying Constipation Free

Laxatives are the hugest sellers in drug stores across the nation. You
can justify this fact by looking at reports on over the counter drug sales
or check out the laxative aisle at your local drug store.

Why does one type of product cover an entire aisle? Because laxatives are popular among the public that’s why, yet we still keep the topic of constipation private.

There is an variety of cheap, if not free, methods for ensuring that you
are regular. I have outlined these methods below along with explaining
exactly why they are effective.

I urge you to try them for yourself each
and everyday. Because believe it or not, the best thing to do each
morning after you pray or meditate, is to take out your bodily trash.

Hot Water Walk

Using this technique is both relaxing and invigorating. All you need to
do is drink about 8 to 16 ounces of hot water on an empty stomach
soon after rising.

The water does not have to be very hot, just make
sure that it does not scorch your tongue. After downing the hot water,
take a brisk walk for about 20 to 30 minutes. While walking, it is
normal to feel the urge to have a bowel movement.

This method works because once you drink the hot water; it goes
directly to the colon where it moistens the waste sitting there. If the
bowel contents are moist it is much easier for it to pass through the
colon and exit the rectum. Walking helps to relax the body and
particularly the colon and rectum. This relaxing process likewise
encourages the quick release of bowel waste.

Fruit’em Up

Spending a day eating simply fruit and drinking water is another
effective way to ensure bowel health. All you have to do for this
method is spend a day enjoying your favorite fruits and drinking lots
of water.

The fruit’em up method works because the fruits bring fiber and
moisture to the colon. This fiber places weight on the waste within the
bowels and encourages it to move out of the colon. Like the hot water
walk method, eating fruits moistens colon waste so that it can pass
through the colon quicker and easier.

Castor Oil Pack

Using a castor oil pack brings moisture to the colon and helps remove
built- up waste from the lining of the colon. You can make a castor oil
pack by rubbing 1-2 tablespoons of castor oil over the stomach. Next,
place a plastic bag over the castor oil.

Then place a heating pad over the stomach for about an hour. Using a castor oil pack the night before you do an enema, colonic or fast is a sure way to unload lots of toxins from the colon.

Bye-Bye Laxatives

Eating right can afford you years of good health and save you
thousands of dollars in the process. You can purchase 3 to 4 days
worth of fruit for the price of most laxatives.

I admit that I use the laxative Swiss Kwiss when necessary, because it is a mixture of herbs and works well.

But I realize that laxatives can be addictive. So, I take
responsibility for my health and eat right to ensure that I have
practically no need for laxatives. I encourage you to enjoy a
wholesome diet so that you can say bye-bye to laxatives as well.
