APPENDIX D: Acne Reducing Facials

Step-By-Step Facials for Treating Acne

Please refer to the Pampering Yourself section for more details on each
step of the facial treatment.

Always make certain to move your hair away from the face when
doing a facial.

Deep cleansing facial for congested skin

    1. Wash the face with a soap containing salicylic acid.

    2. Exfoliate the skin with a gentle facial scrub pad or exfoliating
    cream.

    3. Pat the face dry and steam for 15-20 minutes.

    4. Extract pores with a visible whitehead, or yellow or white pus.

    5. Rinse the face with water and apply a clay mask for 15-20
    minutes.

    6. Remove clay mask with a clean, warm cloth.

    7. Disinfect the skin by applying a solution of benzoly peroxide
    or tea tree oil for 10-15 minutes then rinse off.

    8. Massage an ice cube over your face to close the pores and
    further reduce inflammation.

    9. Apply a moisturizer.

      The fabulous five-cent microdermabrasion

        1. Wash the face with a soap containing salicylic acid.

        2. Exfoliate the skin with a gentle facial scrub pad or exfoliating
        cream.

        3. Pat the face dry and steam for 15-20 minutes.

        12 If you cannot use a cleanser containing salicylic acid, just use your preferred
        cleanser.

        4. Apply a glycolic acid toner of the appropriate concentration for
        your skin type and let cool for one minute.

        5. Place a tablespoon of baking soda into your hands and add
        enough water to moisten all of the baking soda, creating a
        paste. Apply the wet baking soda solution to your face and
        massage into the skin for one-two minutes.

        6. Rinse the baking soda solution.

        7. (Optional) Apply a clay mask for 15-20 minutes. Remove clay
        mask with a clean, warm cloth.

        8. Disinfect the skin by applying a solution of benzoly peroxide
        or tea tree oil for 10-15 minutes then rinse off.

        9. Massage an ice cube over your face to close the pores and
        further reduce inflammation.

        10. Apply a moisturizer.

      Facial with a gentle peel

        1. Wash the face with a soap containing salicylic acid.

        2. Exfoliate the skin with a gentle facial scrub pad or exfoliating
        cream.

        3. Pat the face dry and steam for 15-20 minutes.

        4. (Optional) Extract pores with a visible whitehead, or white or
        yellow pus. Rinse off facial debris.

        5. Apply your preferred facial peel and allow it to remain on the
        face for 15-20 minutes (adjust time according to
        manufacturer’s instructions).

        6. Rinse peel off face.

        7. Disinfect the skin by applying a solution of benzoly peroxide
        or tea tree oil for 10-15 minutes then rinse off.

        8. Massage an ice cube over your face to close the pores and
        further reduce inflammation.

        9. Apply a moisturizer.

      Quick maintenance facial

        1. Wash the face with a soap containing salicylic acid.

        2. Exfoliate the skin with a gentle facial scrub pad or exfoliating
        cream.

        3. Pat the face dry and steam for 15-20 minutes.

        4. Apply a clay mask for 15-20 minutes.

        5. Remove clay mask with a clean, warm cloth.
