At Home Alternative to Laser, Thermage and Refirme for Scars, Wrinkle and Sagging Skin

    By Naweko San-Joyz | November 23, 2009

I’ll admit, if I had the cash just laying around, I wouldn’t mind going out and spending thousands of dollars on Thermage, Refirme and laser resurfacing treatments to get my skin looking even better. But, I don’t. Plus, invasive skin treatments do scare me a tad. But now, there is an effective and yes, cheap alternative to these costly procedures and it’s called “Percutaneous collagen induction”.

    Percutaneous Collagen Induction

That’s a big, fancy word for simply saying sticking tiny needles in your skin to damage the layer underneath so that more collagen and elastin will grow and thereby reduce the looks of scarring, wrinkles, sagging skin and even stretch marks. You can perform this treatment on yourself at home using dermal rollers, which you can get from suppliers listed later in this post.

Percutaneous collagen induction was started in 1997 and hasproved to be a simple and fast method for safely treating wrinkles and scars. As opposed to ablative laser treatments, the epidermis remains intact and is not damaged. For this reason, the procedure can be repeated safely and is also suited to regions where laser treatments and deep peels cannot be performed. (Plast.Reconstr. Surg. 121: 1421, 2008.)

Dr. Lali Hanani, PhD, MD made a suave video that explains how percutaneous collagen induction, or collagen induction therapy as she calls it, works. I also like this video because it has chill, techno background music.

Where To Get A Dermal Roller

Fair Warning:Don’t take dermal rolling lightly. Just because you can buy a dermal roller doesn’t mean you should. Using this device is a serious matter so make you beauty regime choices and purchases wisely.

You can get a dermal roller from:

  • Dermal Integrity
  • Drug-Aware Ltd. seller of Derma-Rollers

    How To Use A Dermalroller

Why tell when I can show? Once you get a dermalroller, you’d just follow the manufacturer’s instructions, but to get a taste of what this at home skin firming treatment is like, check out this video. Please note that while this video and does not showcase any bleeding, you could experience bleeding and pain during or after your dermaroller treatment.
