Traction Base for a Microdermabrasive Agent

Microdermabrasion works because of the negative pressure created as the
dermabrasive agent, such as apricots or aluminum crystals, rub against the skin.

You can apply this negative pressure to the skin equally by using the ideal carrier
agent, or what I call “traction base”. I call it traction base simply because it is the
cream or gel that you use that gives you enough traction to smoothly spread the
microdermabrasive agent over your skin.

Your traction base is extremely important because the right traction base can make
the difference between a mediocre microdermabrasion and a mirodermabrasive
treatment the delivers professional results.

Traction bases

Instead of spending hours, or in some cases days, to make your traction bases from
scratch, I strongly suggest using traction bases that are already ready to use. For
example, you can find simple thick creams, aloe vera gels and light moisturizers in
most drug stores.

Ready-made traction bases

In the Appendix, I have listed places where you can get specialized traction bases
at discount prices. Specialized traction bases include a spectrum of unique creams
and gels. You can readily find these traction bases and create a highly customized
microdermabrasion product with specialized traction bases that are:

  • Herb-based
  • Post-menopausal targeted
  • Parabens free
  • Fragrance free
  • Gentle on sensitive skin
  • Minimize pore size
  • Target wrinkles
  • The options for locating traction bases are endless

While the focus of a traction base is only limited by the imagination of the
formulator, the constancies, or thickness and ease with which you can smooth a
traction base over your skin will fall into three categories

Basic categories of traction bases include:

  • Thick, rich oil-based creams (with cocoa oils, avocado oils)
  • Light oil based creams (jojaba, sesame oil )
  • Aloe vera (or water based) gels (thick aloe vera gels)

Acidic agents (for deep micordermabrasion)

  • Lactic acid (softens roughed skin and offers skin lightening)
  • Salicylic acid (helps minimize pore size and remove damaged layers of
    skin)
  • Tartaric acid (tones the skin, while offering lightening)
