Microdermabrasion Formulation Problem Solvers

Mega Skincare Tip

When you are trying to correct a problem
with your microdermabrasion product,
only change one item at a time, and then
test that change on your skin. This way
you will know how specific adjustments
to the microdermabrasion product affect
your skin.

How to fix the most common formulating problems with
microdermabrasion products

1. Not easy to spread over skin

When you find that your microdermabrasion product is too hard to spread over
your skin, the source of your ills is most likely the abrasive agent. To fix a
microdermabrasion product that is too thick, just reduce the percentage of the
abrasive agent in the product.

Reduce the content of the abrasive agent in
increments of three percent of the product’s total weight. Reducing the content
of the abrasive agent at this rate will allow you to fine-tune your product.

2. The microdermabrasion product irritates your skin

If your microdermabrasion product irritates your skin, this is easily fixed by
making adjustments to the following ingredients:

  • A. the dermabrasive agent
  • B. the acidic agent
  • C. the traction agent

A. Change the Dermabrasive Agent

If your microdermabrasion product irritates your skin, your first step will be to
switch to a milder “abrasive agent” for example, if you have formulated a
microdermabrasion product with crushed walnut seed as the key abrasive
ingredient, try to use a gentler abrasive agent live crushed strawberry seeds, or
coarse rice bran.

B. Change or Reduce the Acidic Agent

Another source of skin irritation could be the acidity level of your
microdermabrasion product. You can reduce the acidity level of your
microdermabrasion product by increments of one percent to find the ideal
amount of acidity for your skin type.

Additionally, you can change the acidic agent that you use in your
microdermabrasion product. For instance, if you find that ascorbic acid reacts
negatively with your skin, try using lactic acid as your acidic agent.

C. Change the Traction Agent

Before you even begin using a traction base for your microdermabrasion
product, test the traction agent on your upper arm area to ensure that you are
not allergic to or irritated by the traction base. Use only the traction bases that
are healthy for your skin.
